When Ashes Turned Into Bones!

18th August, 1945

"At 2:30 PM the nosewheel lifted off the ground gently and the plane began its climb. Captain Nakamura, the maintenance officer at the Matsuyama Aerodrome, first heard a Terrifying Boom. He got to know that something fell from the plane. It was the Propeller and the Port Engine. The Pilots deliberately tried to control the bomber but they failed. When the Plane Crashed, the 'INA Chief' got a splash of Petrol all over his 'Cotton Khaki' and it caught fire when he struggled through the nose of the plane. The cut in his head was a long one, about four inches. After the fire was put off he was shifted in a Lorry to Nanmon Military Hospital. Dr Yoshimi's Observation made clear that his body temperature was 39 centigrade and the pulse rate 120 per minute. He was brought to the ward from the operation theatre. After an hour, he fell into complete Coma. Around 9 PM, India's Greatest Son was no More! "

These were the words of Lt Col Habibur Rahman who was Bose's most confidant and a trustworthy friend of his. 

Yes, It is obvious that he is addressing Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Before the Shah Nawaz Khan Enquiry Comission. 

It's been almost 75 years after the strange and suspicious disappearance of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and yet there is no Full Stop to This Controversy. 

"Netaji died in a Plane Crash" 

"Netaji Survived the Plane Crash" 

"The Plane Crash was a Japanese Smokescreen for Netaji's Escape to Russian Territory"

"Netaji Spotted in Siberia" 

"Bose was in Manchuria" 

"Bose was Captivated in Russia" 

"The Mysterious Yogi 'Gumnami Baba was none other than Netaji Himself!" 

"Netaji was Present at Nehru's Funeral!" 

Bose appeared in Tashkent to Lal Bahadur Shastri During the Historical Tashkent Agreement! "

And There are still plenty of eyewitnesses who know about Subash Babu's fate and are unwilling to reveal the truth because it might create a 'Political Storm' in our country. 

Undoubtedly, The Mystery of Subash Chandra Bose Is the biggest Cover-Up the world has witnessed so far! 

Why is there no conclusion in Netaji's Mystery? Though our former President Pranab Mukherjee had himself researched on this matter and had met Emilie Schenkel who married Subash Bose in Germany,  is not ready to talk about it? Why does our government doesn't want the alleged 'Ashes of Bose' to be brought to India?  Why did the Indian Congress Government failed to setup a 'Proper Enquiry Comission' on this matter when the Shah Nawaz Khan Committee and Khosla Comission metastasized that "Bose Died in the Taipei Air Crash". 

Shah Nawaz Khan who was very close to Nehru and was a 'Pakka Congressman'. He concluded that Bose did die in the Taipei Air Crash. No Need to mention about G.D. Khosla who was a 'Puppet Of Congress' stated in his report that 'due to non availability of proofs and evidences, it is evident that Bose actually died in the Plane Crash at Taihoku". 

Finally in 1999, the then Prime Minister Sri Atal Bihari Vajpeye formed an enquiry committee and Manoj Kumar Mukherjee took charge of the Committee. 

Unfortunately The NDA Government failed to come to power in 2004 and the Indian National Congress yet again gained power. This time the prime Minister was Sri Manmohan Singh. 

The Mukherjee Commission Filed its final report and submitted it in the Parliament on November 8, 2005 after 3 extensions and it was Tabled in the Indian Parliament on May 17, 2006.

The Report stated that "Due to lack of evidence for Bose being dead in the plane Crash, it could not be concluded that Bose died in the plane Crash. There might be some other circumstantial evidences which we need to look for it".  By stating so, the Former Supreme Court Judge requested the government to probe into the matter and conduct an inquiry on this matter. 

But the Congress government was expecting the same old Plane Crash theory. They could not accept that Bose was dead by any other way except for he died in the plane Crash. 

The Congress government rejected the report of Mukherjee Commission and dismissed the commission quoting the reason that ''there was no clinching evidence for the commity's argument and any other facts other than the plane Crash theory could not be entertained". 

I seriously don't understand why the Congress is not interested in Netaji's issue. If so why are they portraying the falsity in Netaji's matter? 

Ashes Which Turned to Bones! 

Till today there is no records of Netaji's Dead Body and the place of his cremation. His alleged ashes are still wrapped in a cloth and kept in a wooden box. The wooden box is kept in the Renkoji Temple, in Tokyo which is the capital city of Japan till today.

The Indian Embassy visited the Renkoji on October 24, 2002. Temple Priest Koshi Mochizuki and his wife stood attentively with the Indian Officials as the square box full of controversies was opened. 

The Alleged Ashes 

To Their amazement, The Officials saw no Ash in it! There were big pieces of burnt, grayish bones and a bundle of brown paper. The bundle contained charred remains of teeth. This episode created 'High Dramas' as it attracted the Heed of the Minister of External Affairs of India. 

Kyoei Mochizuki,  the father of Current priest requested the then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru to kindly take back the ashes of India's greatest Son to his country as it was not the Japanese tradition to keep the ashes of a foreigner at their temple. But the PMO replied to his letter that they cannot accept the ashes at present because it might affect the Indian Sentiments and it will definitely lead to a huge issue! 

In November 1957, the aging Priest again wrote to the Prime Minister saying "Netaji's soul is anxious to return to his fatherland as soon as possible". Finally the Foriegn Secretary decided to give a grant of Rs 5,000 per year which could be handed over in the form of a grant to the temple and the priest in appreciation of their loyalty towards India and Netaji. 

With no other way the priest agreed. 

What's the fear that is haunting our government to accept the alleged ashes from the Renkoji? 

I know that You guys will drop your jaw when I tell that these 'alleged ashes' are not of Netaji's but of a Japanese Soldier named 'Ichiro Okura'! 

According to Figgess' report, Tsuruta witnessed Bose's death and issued a death certificate. But according to a file declassified on January 23 in New Delhi, the same Tsuruta is seen telling the Shah Nawaz Committee in 1956 that he issued no such certificate! 

Justice Mukherjee found that it was issued, rather fabricated, only in 1988. When the Commission inquired they got to know that the crematorium records neither have the name of Netaji nor General Sheidei who was supposed to be died alone with Netaji. They later found out that Ichiro Okura's death certificate was issued instead of Netaji's!

Finally, no discussion on the Renkoji temple remains would be complete without addressing the issues question of their possible scientific examination. The idea that Bose's remains should be subjected to DNA test to resolve the mystery has been in vogue for the last two decades. 

The simplest thing to do is to take the Ashes kept in the Renkoji Temple at Tokyo and run a DNA match with Anita Pfaff,  Netaji's Daughter. 

The only Bose kin to have gone deeper into the question of DNA test is Surya Kumar Bose, a  disbeliever in the air crash theory. 

In January 2000, Surya consulted Prof Mark Stoneking at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany. He told Surya Bose that he was not very hopeful of a successful mitochondrial DNA test on the ashes in Renkoji Temple because any pieces of bones left behind after a cremation are usually so badly charred that all DNA molecules are damaged. Fifty-five years after the Shah Nawaz Committee report reasoned that "If the ashes are taken to be genuine, Renkoji Temple cannot obviously be their final resting place", it is time we did something about them. The scientific tester, as and when they are carried out in an independent Foriegn lab, would not show them to be of Bose - for they are of Ichiro Okura. Therefore, the best way to dispose off the remains would be to respectfully shift them to Tokyo's Yakusuni shrine-the final resting place for the Japanese War dead. 

And Thus the mystery of Ashes also remains unfolded. Shockingly Our Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi was urged not to visit the Renkoji Temple in 2014. This move creates still more suspicions that "What may happen when the DNA test is infact conducted? 

People oftenly ask me "Why do you worry so much about Bose's death mystery? Anyway he will not return alive anyday". 

Of course he will not return. But their question sounds like"I Love my dad so much. But I don't care how he died!" 

It is damn important for every Indian to know 'How Netaji Died?' as same as they worship him as the 'Greatest Revolutionary'.
