Narendra As I Saw Him

                     Swami Vivekananda
Many of the people experiences a "goosebump" when they hear this great Sanyasi's name itself. Unfortunately our people see this man as a "monk" itself..
But infact he is a great speaker, Even he sings beautifully!! He was a great spiritual leader also. Above all this He was a great patriot!!
Narendranatha Datta (Swami Vivekananda) was born on 12th January, 1863 to Vishwanatha Datta and Bhuvaneshwari Devi in Kolkata. In his childhood itself he showed every possibilities of becoming a great person. In his attempt to meet the person who has seen the "GOD" he met various saints; but he was not satisfied..
Finally he met Ramakrishna Paramahamsa who was a priest at Dakshineshwar Kali Temple. Narendra asked, "have you seen the "GOD"?". Thakurji(Ramakrishna) said"definitely my boy. I am seeing her as clearly as i am seeing you!" Narendra was stunned at his reply. He then accepted him as his guru after several meetings. Here you have to concentrate on the "Guru-Shishya" chemistry. Because many times I felt that they were as same as a dad and his son.
Narendra learnt many "shastras", "vedas", "Upanishads". Thakurji stressed on Gita and the "Advaitha" philosophy. Initially Narendra did not accept the concept of "Aham Bramhasmi". But later he had to accept it by the grace of Thakurji!!!! After the Mahasamadhi of Ramakrishna; Narendra became a Sanyasi. Swamiji as a wondering monk visited the whole India by his bare foot. Swamiji saw the "caste System" "superstitions" and the poverty in our country. He was hurt by this disgusting situation of our country. Finally when he reached Kanyakumari he meditated on a "rock" for 3 days. Then he saw "Bharata Matha"(Mother India). He then realized to spread the teachings of his guru, the importance of "Vedanta" , and the Hindu Religion in the west. Then he heard about the "World Religious Conference" in Chicago. With help of the king of Khetri Swamiji reached Chicago. World religious Conference was held on 11th September 1893. I would like to call this year as the turning point of India. The reason would be explained further. Finally it was Swamiji's turn to speak. Everyone was eagerly waiting to hear the young, daring, well-built, and shining monk. Swamiji came to the stage, prayed to Saraswathi and began his speech. "Sisters and Brothers of America". He spoke only these 5 magical words and guess what?? About 7000-8000 people gave a standing ovation!!. Tears rolled out from everyone's eyes!! Then Swamiji upheld the greatness of India and advocating the tolerance of our religions towards all religions. Friends Believe me!! Before Swamiji's speech India was conquered. After Swamiji's speech India conquered the whole world!! Swamiji after advocating the "spiritual matters" for 4 years in America and Europe; Swamiji returned to India. Here we have to note the famous disciple of swamiji that is 'Sister Nivedita'. Unfortunately today we do not know her contributions to our country! Swamiji at the age of 39 attained the 'Maha Samadhi'.
Friends today Swamiji is a role model to the youths!! If we have to rebuilt our India as "Vishwaguru Bharatha" we have to follow his teachings.
Lets fullfill Swamiji's dream of "Vishwaguru Bharatha"!!
                       Vande Mataram
                         Jai Hind
                          Thank You
